Nightlife within the Algarve is not all fado and folkdances. There are tons of hot summer party places where you could dance all night long. From cool and funky to all out dancing on the tables, there's pretty much something for everyone.

Being the Algarve, party fun is never too far from the beach or the sea. There are fantastic sunset celebrations at clubs and beach bars along the shore, with live music and DJs. NoSoloAgua in Portimao is famous for not only for its sunset celebrations, it's also a party hotspot in the west Algarve with dancing, music and fun until dawn. For the most unique celebration spot, head for Canico at Prainha - a fabulous bar and restaruant carved from the cliffs. For cosmopolitan chillin' there is no better place than the Conrad Algarve. There are sexy Lunar Jazz evenings by the pool and Sunset Chill Out session to the Gusto terrace.

The famous Praca at Vale do Lobo has live entertainment previously in the evening in the open air stage, and then DJs and karaoke mayhem at Monty's until late. Elite Bar, recently opened just outside Almancil, has regular theme parties and a great garden for kicking back and relaxing. On the Rocks in Praia da Rocha is open all day, transforming from a relaxing bar with a fantastic view of the beach to a lively celebration place with DJs and live music until dawn. For all outside, loud fun, it's difficult to beat an Irish pub - and there are plenty in the Algarve. Live music, tons of laughter and that intangible ingredient known as "craic"! Search for the Black Stove or Paddys Bar in Alvor, Ireland's Eye in Praia da Rocha, O'Neill's on the marina in Vilamoura and de Barra's classy Irish pub in Quinta do Lago.

Dancing on the tables isn't restricted to Irish bars. The Bon Vivant in Lagos is an iconic nightspot. The fabulous rooftop terrace overlooking the town is ideal for good humored relaxation while the lower floor is for letting it rip and dancing on the tables.

of non-stop dancing. From 18:00 hrs on Friday the 14th the Conrad Algarve ballroom will host a fantastic Dance-a-thon to raise funds for ACCA - a local Algarve charity helping youngsters in need within the region (Associacao de Solidariedade com as Criancas Carenciadas do Algarve).

The Dance-a-thon will get underway at 6pm on Friday with non-stop dancing until 6pm on Saturday. There will be professional dancers to help keep the tempo, while the sounds are made by Joao Sotto Mayor, DJs Tim Fortune, Tim Parker and James Farby. Dancing styles run the gamut - from classic ballroom waltz, to tango, salsa, zumba, hip-hop and kizomba. And obviously, lots and lots of freestyle.

There is going to be wine tasting, chef's presentations, games, exhibitions and plenty of task to hold the energy levels high for the full 24 hours of the Dance-a-thon.

So, come on - embrace your internal Astaire and shake that booty - it's for a good cause.

Entry to the Dance-a-thon is EUR15 per person - which reverts in its totality to ACCA.
