TotallySQL.com Launches Suite of Function Libraries for MS SQL Server

MS SQL Server specialist Totallysql.com has launched a new range of products for developers, data analysts and solutions providers who are using MS SQL Server within their application architecture.

These products extend the native functionality of the T-SQL scripting language through the addition of new functions, aggregates and types that enable advanced processing to be carried out within the database layer.

"Carrying out processing within the database has a number of advantages over just storing the data there," said Managing Director, Charles Southey. "Firstly, the data doesn´t have to be shuttled backwards and forwards across the network anything like as much - which can mean a massive improvement in application performance and a drastic reduction in network load. Secondly, it enables the application to take advantage of the awesome processing efficiency of the MS SQL database engine, which can process millions of data rows incredibly quickly - it can seem instantaneous."

The TotallySQL.com CLR function library products enable richer business and data processing logic to be built into scripts and stored procedures that reside on the database, whilst keeping the syntax in those scripts clean, elegant and easy to maintain. They´re incredibly fast and accurate too - there´s no observable difference in performance compared with the built-in native functions. Where there´s complex numeric processing to be done (such as in some of the mathematical functions) the company has researched extensively for the fastest and most reliable algorithms available, and taken great care to deal properly with the limits of machine precision.

As well as off-the-shelf products that cover areas such as math, statistics, financial analysis, engineering, text-processing and date/time arithmetic, TotallySQL.com can provide fully-supported bespoke function libraries to order. They also offer services to help customers better exploit their untapped database capabilities, and the Assembly Manager tool which helps customers using CLR-based function libraries to manage their production environment in a much easier way than is possible with the standard Microsoft tools.
