David Cohen returns to New Yorks Alphabet Lounge located on New Yorks Lower East Side at 104 Ave C on Friday April 12, 2014 at 7pm.David performs music from his CD, DAVID COHEN: GUITAR. The music on the CD was written after the loss of Davids wife Tanya to ovarian cancer. The music was written in the first year of the grieving process though it is not mournful at all. While it is in memory to his wife each piece is a celebration of love, joy and life. Tanya loves to dance. Concerts highlights are the pieces Every Minute in Paris and In My Dreams We Fly. Both pieces are both dance oriented one with African township jive rhythms and the other is a out straight flamenco dance. David wants his audiences dancing!

David brings his unique blend of original classical & flamenco guitar music to venues outside the tradional venues associated with his brand of music. Davids music comes via his studies on the oud, saz, quarto along with the guitar, Chinese pipa and bagpipes  David performs music from his first CD, DAVID COHEN: GUITAR along with music that will be on his forthcoming release, the verb to dance. 

In concert David is known to surprise his audiences with a selection of musical instruments and musical selections that makes the listener want To Dance. In 2001 David won the JAM Award (Jersey Acoustic Musician) for top guitar instrumentalist. He was the first classical musician to be nominated by the selection committee. David has been featured in conversation and music on the program Crossover w/Jill Pasternak on WRTI, Philadelphias classical music station along with features in the Asbury Park Press and Philadelphias Broad Street Review.
