Three month study reveals surprising results, data published in American Journal of Physiology.
Researchers from the University of Copenhagen recently concluded that 30 minutes of daily training provides better results than 60 minutes, and their data has been published in the American Journal of Physiology. The 60 volunteers in their study were moderately overweight men and their goal was to get in better shape. Half exercised for an hour and the other half for 30 minutes daily. All exercised daily for three months and were instructed to produce a light sweat, and to slightly boost the intensity three times weekly.
The researchers found that on average, the men who exercised 30 minutes daily lost 7.9 pounds in three months, while those who exercised for a whole hour only lost 5.9 pounds. They concluded that exercising for a whole hour instead of a half does not provide any additional loss in either body weight or fat.
