Then And Now Fashion Show Profiles Emerging Designers, The First For New Designer Cody Sai
The China Institute of Young Associates staged its first Night of Fashion, entitled Then and Now, the first for emerging designers.
Online, October 28, 2010 (Newswire.com) - New York, NY. The China Institute of Young Associates, the network of students and young professionals to encourage and foster cultural, educational and public service programs, staged its first Night of Fashion, entitled Then and Now, on October 20, 2010 at the CUE Center in New York City. Epitomizing the Institute's mission of cross cultural exploration, the fashion show explored traditional Chinese dress dating back to the Zhou Dynasty (1046 BC) through the Early Republic (1912), as well as profiling emerging contemporary designers.
Young women's wear designer Cody Sai was one among the four designers. "This is my first fashion show," Cody Sai states, "my designs are inspired by paint brush strokes on fabric." The nine piece collection for Spring / Summer 2011 featured muted colors, beautiful draping on elegant, but easy to wear pieces. The brush stroke patterns created soft textures that complimented flowing fabrics.
"I worked on the collection for about two months during nights and weekends," states Cody Sai. "I'm grateful for the China Institute of Young Associates for organizing the show - it was an amazing opportunity."
Other designers featured were Janet Zheng, Arbitrage, Ann Yee, and a jewelry showcase by Ken + Dana.
