The Upper Room Rolls Out The Red Carpet To Benefit Local Families

Upcoming gala auction invites area businesses to gather for a fun night out, in support of strengthening the community

The Upper Room, a Family Resource Center in Derry, is hosting its 11th Annual Family Matters Auction in November. Named "Live from the Red Carpet," the event will feature meals provided by local restaurants, both a silent and live auction, and fun games for attendees.

Auction items include Boston Red Sox memorabilia, diamond stud earrings from Gem Jewelers, a trip to Jackson, NH courtesy of Northstar Financial Planning, theatre and dinner packages, and a 7 day getaway aboard Holland America Cruise Lines. Area restaurants such as La Caretta, Rig A Tony's, Pinkerton Cafe, Jamie's Sweet Temptations, Amphora, Promises to Keep, USA Subs, and Ma Ma Italiano Biscotti will satisfy guests' appetites, and wine will be provided as well. The event allows attendees to enjoy a rewarding and entertaining evening, as well as an opportunity for networking.

There are several ways to support this popular event. Options include purchasing tickets at $35 a person, or donating an auction item. For more ways to get involved, The Upper Room encourages interested parties to contact them directly. Proceeds will go towards The Upper Room's programs supporting local families on topics such as teen parenting, GED preparation, youth anger management, drug and alcohol awareness, in-home parenting counseling, parent support groups, and more. Existing sponsors include Bank of New England, Dollar Bill's Discount World, and Hampshire First Bank.

New this year, is the "Fund a Family" opportunity. A $200 contribution will help The Upper Room support 200 more families seeking to earn an education, find a job, raise healthy children, or put nutritious food on the table.

"We are all looking forward to holding our Family Matters Auction this year," stated Kimberly Bavaro, Executive Director of the Upper Room. "At over 200 guests, this event has sold out for the last 10 years, and we're expecting the same turnout this year. The success of the gala is a true testament to our community recognizing the importance of fostering a positive family dynamic for its neighbors."

The event is being held at 6:00 pm on November 2, 2012 at Promises To Keep in Derry, NH. To purchase tickets, or learn more about how to get involved, please visit www.URteachers.org/events-calendar.html.
