The Truth About The Modeling Industry
Reel Works Kicks Off Monthly Documentary Screening Series: On February 28th, Reel Works Teen Filmmaking screens the award-winning and internationally renowned documentary 'Girl Model' for free
Brooklyn (I-Newswire) February 22, 2013 - While TV and the tabloid press show us a world of fashion, stars and glamour, the actual life of a model has mostly nothing to do with this image. In the documentary film "Girl Model", the Filmmakers David Redmon and Ashley Sabin give us a glimpse behind the scenes and tell the disillusioning story of Nadya, a 13-year-old up-and-coming model and the scout that discovered her, Ashley.
On February 28th, Reel Works Teen Filmmaking screens this award-winning and internationally renowned documentary, including a follow-up Q&A with the filmmakers. It marks the start of Reel Works’ Documentary Screening Series, a free-of-charge program, which takes place on the last Thursday of each month at the Reel Works Screening Room in the Gowanus section of Brooklyn and is open to students, teaching artists, mentors and their guests within the filmmaking community.
Every month, Reel Works is proud to showcase one of the most anticipated documentaries of the year, chosen for their educational relevance, but also their cinematic merits. Many of which are campaigning for the most coveted awards in filmmaking. Each screening will be followed by a Q&A session with the films’ directors, writers, producers or cast members.
