The Republik is Hot!

(I-Newswire) March 1, 2010 - The alternative band “The Republik”, is rapidly setting up bookings as the grassroots following continues to grow. The Republik, known for its focus on polarized ideologies of America, represents a new age of politically based, alternative music. Inspired by a vast range of music from Dave Matthews Band and Rage Against the Machine to Tool and Primus, the band brings a lot to the table with diversity and unconventional lyrics and tunes highlighting trials and tribulations in modern America. The Republik plays next at Jimbos at 6200 North Ocean Dive, Hollywood Beach on Saturday, March 13 for free.

The band’s music covers a broad range of alternative and indie genres attracting a fan base of a wide range of people of all ages and backgrounds. The band's first album Last Chance Planet, released in 2007, features bassist, Jacob Bauman and singer/songwriter/guitarist, keyboards and violin Colin Healy and a new CD is being released this month, entitled The Unexpected Answer.

The group began playing publicly in 2006 when long time friends and dueling violinists Colin Healy and Jacob Bauman teamed up with Alberto Pizarro and Beau Millions. Both Healy and Bauman were already well recognized on their own for their talents and work they did together with the Broward County Honors Orchestra which included award-winning performances in national orchestra competitions.

The two expanded their talents and direction to form The Republik Band In 2007, Alberto Pizarro was brought in full time as a lead guitarist and in 2008 a new drummer, Beau Million, was added.

Healy and Bauman continue to work in other venues and are active members in the theatre, both of them performing, directing, and doing tech work in local theatre productions. Currently, they are continuing their music education and performing at various local and state venues while being heard through many various mediums across the world.
