The Reject Shop Selects Voice Interface Design and Vocollect Voice(TM) Solution to Optimise Warehouse Performance

Voice Interface Design today announced they are working with Vocollect by Honeywell to help The Reject Shop transform their Distribution Centre (DC) operations in order to reach a new level of efficiency, visibility, accuracy and productivity.

Voice Interface Design today announced they are working with Vocollect by Honeywell, the world leader in voice-enabled solutions for mobile workers, to help The Reject Shop transform their Distribution Centre (DC) operations in order to reach a new level of efficiency, visibility, accuracy and productivity.

The transformation will be backed by the development of a state-of-the-art voice solution and training facility at The Reject Shop's new Western Australian Hazelmere Distribution Centre (DCHA), which will deliver to 25 Reject Shop Stores across the State.

It will be the first warehouse to benefit from Voice Interface Design's new VoiceID Trainer(TM) solution that has been developed to train casual staff as part of the on-site induction process. In support of the new training program, The Reject Shop has designed a specialised simulated training space within their DC, which emulates their DC operations.

"Improved productivity of casual staff is paramount for DCs such as The Reject Shop who experience fluctuation in order fulfilment demands at particular points of the year, especially during the Christmas season," said Rizan Mawzoon, director of Sales for Voice Interface Design. "Voice Interface Design has tailored our VoiceID Trainer to reflect The Reject Shop DC processes to make training their casual staff quick and easy."

"Most DCs currently train their staff on the warehouse floor, which doesn't offer the opportunity to assess a newcomer's skills, strengths and challenges during the training period in order to best match them with the most appropriate work tasks," he continued. "By being one of the first to incorporate this new style of training, The Reject Shop is expected to reap the benefits of reduced errors and increased accuracy."

Voice Interface Design will also support The Reject Shop's casual staffing fluctuations by becoming one of the first integration specialists in Australia to offer the option of renting voice solutions during peak periods when extra hardware is required.

The Reject Shop already is using Vocollect Voice Solutions at their Victoria and Queensland DCs. They also chose Vocollect Voice for their new DC and will roll-out next generation Vocollect technologies, including the Talkman(TM) A700 mobile computing devices with new scanning capabilities, Vocollect(TM) SRX2 Wireless Headset, as well as the latest versions of Vocollect's VoiceCatalyst(TM) 2.1 and VoiceConsole(TM) 5.0.

"We are pleased that The Reject Shop will continue to benefit from voice systems at their newest DC. The coupling of VoiceID Trainer and the latest Vocollect Voice Solutions will result in enhanced productivity and efficiencies," said Paul Phillips, regional manager - Australia/New Zealand for Vocollect by Honeywell.

Underscoring the strategic benefits of the new technologies, Darren O'Connor, CIO of The Reject Shop, noted, "The latest technology and training facilities that will feature at our new Distribution Centre will help us ensure our continued growth so that we are able to provide more and more value-conscious shoppers access to our stores, which are currently numbered at more than 300 and rising.

"One of the aims is for the new DC to become a centre for excellence that will guide the future development of The Reject Shop's DCs nationwide. The fact that Voice Interface Design is able to offer support in integrating voice solutions and training to our warehouses at a national level was a vital factor when we were selecting our partner."
