It was team-work that helped Amit and his friends at UMA Ranchi clinch the winner’s prize for a project from IIM Ranchi. Faculty and students worked in unison to win this prestigious project, and faith and their confidence in each other were the other deciding factors. It all started when Amit decided to enter the corporate world to learn about market dynamics. This prompted him to join UMA Ranchi, where he pursued an MBA plus a PGPM. Subsequently, he joined TTK Prestige India, where he currently works as a territory sales executive handling modern trade, i.e. the franchise department.

Amit’s professional journey has been satisfying so far, to say the least. “In my opinion, working professionally means working in a methodical manner,” says Amit, who confesses that he feels much appreciated and rewarded at work on achieving a target. He adds that even his country head and vice president have helped him a lot. “It’s all about team-work. That’s the reason for the success of TTK Prestige,” says Amit, who has a marketing job and spends 50 percent of his time in the field. And what has helped him in his career so far? According to him, delivering results and taking on every assignment as a challenge have helped him make a mark.

Amit says the three most important skills required to be successful in your particular field are to always be practical, creative and innovative. “Being a management student, everyone should start relating every aspect of what they have learnt to a corporate situation,” he says. Amit believes that the UMA Ranchi placement cell did a great job in attracting some of the finest companies to the campus for hiring students. Amit continuously emphasises that being practical and preparing oneself for corporate life is what students should strive for.

So what does Amit consider to be the strength of UMA Ranchi? “UMA is a good brand. The faculty is very supportive and the placement cell does a lot of hard work for students,” says Amit, who adds that the college has done a good thing in making case studies a prominent part of the academic curriculum. “UMA Ranchi has helped its students get good jobs in the market and in future I see myself working in a good company with a large market share,” rounds off Amit Kumar.
