ReElectJudgeTThomas.com is aims to bring to light the call to re elect Teretha Lundy Thomas. Unchallenged in her stature as a Miami-Dade County Court Group 33 Judge for 19 years, Judge Thomas has drawn a challenger for the first time.

"She is professional in demeanor and performance and defines her job as one of "seeking the truth." That's why it's disheartening to see a competent minority judge be challenged in a retention election," adds the Miami Herald Editorial Staff. "Black female judges are in very short supply in Florida state courts. In many cases, after they're elected or, more often, appointed, they almost always are challenged in the next election. Many lose, wrongly, because of ethnocentric voting habits."

A highlight to her long list of accolades as an esteemed county judge, Judge Thomas holds the distinction of being the first African-American female Administrative Judge in the 11th Judicial Circuit. She is admitted to practice in the state of Florida, the trial bar of the Southern District of Florida and before the U.S. Supreme Court.

Judge Thomas is a Miami native who is a proud graduate of the Class of 1972, Miami Jackson Senior High. Voted "Most Likely to Succeed" by her senior class, she attended The University of Chicago and graduated from Brown University. After Brown, she worked for the U.S. Postal Service, along with her retired soldier-father, and sister, and then applied to law school.
