The JHRS-HRCI Alliance Bring HR Certification to Japan

The Japan HR Society (JHRS) and HR Certification Institute (HRCI) build an alliance to establish the parameters for collaboration in the area of continuing HR education and certification for Japan-focused HR professionals.

Tokyo (I-Newswire) October 2, 2012 - The Japan HR Society (JHRS) has signed a memorandum of understanding with the HR Certification Institute (HRCI) to bring a globally-recognized HR credentialing system to Japan.

The alliance is the first of a series of global alliances that HRCI is undertaking as part of its introduction of new global HR credentials. HRCI is an internationally recognized credentialing body for the HR profession, with more than 220,000 HR professionals certified to date.

The alliance aims to establish the parameters for collaboration in the area of continuing HR education and certification for Japan-focused HR professionals.

Specifically, HRCI plans to conduct learning sessions on the value of certification and other topics of interest to the Japan HR community. It will also provide support and assistance for JHRS to become part of HRCI’s list of approved training providers and/or for JHRS HR courses/programs to receive Approved for Credit Programs accreditation, which can be used by current and future HRCI-certified HR professionals for re-certification.

In return, JHRS will serve as an HR credentialing advocate in Japan by promoting and marketing the value and benefits of HR certification as well as collaborate with HRCI in the development and execution of learning sessions, surveys, and other knowledge-creation initiatives. It also will share with HRCI relevant information related to the HR industry and market in Japan when needed.

Mary Power, HRCI’s executive director, says, “We are pleased with this alliance, as JHRS shares the same belief of a higher standard for the HR profession. We look forward to a long mutually beneficial relationship.”

“We are truly honored and excited about this alliance with HRCI,” says JHRS Chief Community Officer Jun Kabigting, MBA/MS/HRMP, “as we view this as yet another strategic move to bring us one step closer in introducing an HR credentialing system in Japan—a system that we believe would help achieve JHRS’ primary mission of advancing the HR agenda in Japan.”

In the near future, HR professionals in Japan will have an opportunity to demonstrate their mastery of professional and management level core HR knowledge and skills and be at par with their global HR counterparts.
