The International Drug-Drug Interaction (DDI) Workshop At Marbach Castle, Germany Is Celebrating Its Fifth Anniversary

The organization team of the 5th DDI workshop reports that more than 70 drug development and interaction experts from different countries currently take part at the scientific meeting Drug-Drug Interactions 2014 at Marbach Castle, Germany.

[url:http://www.cr-appliance.com]On May 25th the fifth DDI Workshop started with come together activities and a come together dinner.

Today and tomorrow four scientific sessions are focused on drug interactions involving regulatory aspects of drug-drug interactions (US FDA draft guideline, Japanese PMDA draft guideline), herb-drug and food-drug interactions, and drug-drug interactions involving drug transporters. It's the first time that herb-drug and food-drug interactions will be addressed in detail.

Robert Hermann, member of the organization team, stated: "In the 5th year the topics of the DDI Workshop are as important as 5 years ago. There is an unchanged need for scientific meetings, which offer presentation and discussion of new findings, techniques and guidelines in the area of drug-drug interactions.

At this year's DDI Workshop we are pleased to present six famous key note speakers, Llyod Stevens, PhD, Nottingham; UK, Akihiro Hisaka, PhD, University of Tokyo; Japan, Kazuya Maeda, PhD, University of Tokyo, Japan; Andrew Parkinson, PhD, Shawnee, USA; Werner Weitschies, PhD, University of Greifswald, Germany; and Veronika Butterweck, PhD, Basel, Switzerland. The 16 speakers of this year are coming from 5 different countries (Germany, Great Britain, Japan, USA and Switzerland), thereof 4 from the US. They are distinguished international scientists and experts from academia, pharmaceutical companies, contract research organizations, consultancies as well as government and regulatory agencies. Among others they will present the content of Japanese PMDA- and US-FDA draft guidelines.

Based on that, we expect a very interesting discussion of the different guidelines as well as discussions of new scientific trends to investigate drug-drug interactions from new medicines."

The DDI Workshop offers a unique opportunity for scientific exchange and networking across company and organizational borders, and to learn about the current state-of-the-art in the investigation of DDIs. Based on the detailed feedback received from the expert audience on additional areas of interest requiring future consideration, the structure and content of the DDI Workshop 2014 were designed.

The organization team decided to offer also a poster session with oral presentations of selected posters for the first time. The poster session comprises topics related to all aspect of non-clinical and clinical DDI investigations including IVIVE, modeling approaches, regulatory, pharmaco-epidemiological as well as labelling aspects of DDIs.
