The First Connecticut Himalayan Salt Cave Has Opened In West Hartford.

The "Elements Salt Cave" opened in West Hartford earlier this month after an exciting design and building period.

West Hartford, Ct (I-Newswire) March 11, 2013 - Dr. Margaret Smiechowski, North America's foremost expert on Himalayan salt, is pleased to announce the opening of her latest salt cave creation in West Hartford, CT, in the newly-opened Elements Day Spa at 945 Farmington Avenue.

The "Elements Salt Cave" opened in West Hartford earlier this month after an exciting design and building period. Elements President Sarah Howes first discovered the benefits of Himalayan salt when living near Smiechowski's first Himalayan salt cave in Rutland, Vermont, and experienced first hand the calming and clinical effects of the salt. When opening her own center in Connecticut, Howes decided to offer her own version of the cave, and worked with Smiechowski in its design.

"The West Hartford cave has many things in common with other caves I have designed," says Smiechowski, "but it has some brand new elements that make it a one-of-a-kind. In addition to the large quantity of salt in this cave and the state-of-the-art climate controlled system, this cave features unique lighting decor with ocean blue hues and a sky poking through the roof of the cave with twinkle light stars. We also commissioned a soundtrack with deep healing sound frequencies especially for this cave."

Visitors to the West Hartford facility can sit in the climate-controlled comfort of zero-gravity chairs in the first cave of its kind in Connecticut. A hour session in the cave costs just $45; or, customers can purchase special term-memberships for discounts on multiple, regular salt cave sessions. The Elements website refers to "habitual and repeat cave visitors as 'cavers,' health-minded individuals who are experiencing the accumulative benefit of multiple Salt Cave sessions."

Research on the benefits of Himalayan salt is conducted regularly in Russia, China, and Poland, and has supported the belief that speleotherapy, the clinical use of salt, is highly beneficial for the respiratory system. In other parts of the world, Himalayan salt therapy is used for a wide variety of medical purposes, but salt caves like these in the United States are hailed for their relaxation benefits.
