The Epilepsy Foundation of Long Island Raises $125,000 at Annual Golf and Tennis Tournament
EFLI is pleased to announce the success of their 23rd annual Golf Tournament, which raised $125,000 to support educational programs about epilepsy.
Online, June 16, 2010 (Newswire.com) - On May 24, 2010, the Epilepsy Foundation of Long Island (EFLI) hosted its 23rd Annual Golf and Tennis Tournament at the Mill River Club in Upper Brookville, NY. Oyster Bay resident Don Luneburg, member of EFLI's board of directors and golf chairman sponsored the event, along with his wife, Grace Luneburg.
Former NFL Center John Schmitt was the tournament's 2010 honoree. Previous distinctions include his role as Center for the New York Jets in the 1969 Superbowl, which the team won in a startling upset. He was with the team for 10 seasons before finishing his playing career with the Green Bay Packers in 1974. Since then, he has served on the board of directors for numerous charities and is a chairman of Schmitt-Sussman Enterprises, Inc., a national distributor of insurance products.
The Golf and Tennis Tournament included brunch, a cocktail and buffet dinner reception, raffles, awards, a silent auction, hole-in-one cars donated by Rallye Motors Inc. and Van Buren Pontiac GMC, and a trip to Hawaii. The event was a major success for EFLI, with 28 registered teams and $125,000 raised to support community education and outreach programs about epilepsy.
