The Coastal Cupboard Sharpens Knives to Benefit Charleston, SC Charity Lowcountry Local First

The Mount Pleasant, SC cooking store is sharpening dull knives June 6-8, 2014 for $1 per knife where all proceeds benefit nonprofit organization, Lowcountry Local First and their local, food sustaining mission.

Brad Pitner, owner of The Coastal Cupboard in Mount Pleasant's Belle Hall Shopping Center, is pleased to announce that the store is hosting its Semi-Annual Charity Knife Sharpening Event during regular store hours from Friday, June 6th through Sunday, June 8th. For just $1 per knife, guests may get their straight edged knives professionally sharpened where every dollar will benefit the local charity, Lowcountry Local First.

During the three day event guests may also sample delicious bites from Stonewall Kitchen, Doc Crombie's BBQ and other local foods and products. The Big Green Egg will be fired up in front of the store, and the menu for what will be cooking is available at www.thecoastalcupboard.com/events. National representatives from cutlery companies along with our in-house chef will be in the store demonstrating knife skills and techniques. A Nespresso representative will also be here throughout the weekend showcasing the newest Nespresso machine line Vertuoso, and making complementary coffee drinks for customers.

The Coastal Cupboard's Semi-Annual Charity Knife Sharpening event is held twice a year in June and November. "The summer event is the perfect time for people to put a new edge on their knives to easily slice through summer veggies, fruits and anything that you fire up on the grill!"

Pitner added, "We've hosted this event for several years now and it is something that the community, our customers and our staff look forward to each time. Everyone is excited to have Lowcountry Local first as our beneficiary! We appreciate their mission to support local businesses and sustain local agriculture and educate the community on the benefits of healthy and local farm fresh food for our children and community members alike."

LLF Marketing and Communications Director, Misty Lister said, "Lowcountry Local First is honored to have been chosen as the beneficiary of The Coastal Cupboard Charity Knife Sharpening Event! Coastal Cupboard continues to be a supportive Lowcountry Local First member, recognizing the importance of our Buy Local and Eat Local initiatives."
