The Bay of Grand Bahia Principe La Romana and of Luxury Bahia Principe Bouganville Receives the Blue Flag
The bay of two Bahia Principe hotels received the blue flag. What does it mean?
Palma de Mallorca (I-Newswire) October 21, 2013 - Every season, the world's most ecologically friendly beaches and marinas are given the Blue Flag award. The Blue Flag is a non-government non-profit program created to promote ecologically sustainable beaches and marinas. The award is based on a strict screening process with many elements that must be met.
This year, the beautiful beach of La Laguna Dominicus was awarded a Blue Flag. Both the Grand Bahia Principe La Romana and the Luxury Bahia Principe Bouganville are located on this pristine beach, and now guest looking to enjoy a luxury beach resort will also have access to a one of the world's most ecologically sustainable beaches.
In order to receive a Blue Flag award, a beach must meet 32 strict standards. The standards are based on environmental management, water quality, environmental information and education and safety services. Under those four categories, beaches must fulfill standards like: providing information about the water quality, eco systems, and the beach itself; the water quality must be sampled often, no waste/sewage/industrial water runoff can affect the waters or beach; the beach must be kept clean with plenty of trash cans and recycling containers; coral reefs in the area of the beach must be checked often; emergency equipment and first aid materials must be available; and wheel chairs must be able to access the beach (if multiple beaches are Blue Flag in the area, at least one must be accessible by wheel chair). The standards that must be met are numerous and strict, and not many beaches are able to attain the Blue Flag award.
For visitors heading to the Dominican Republic to enjoy a gorgeous beach, staying at a beach resort near a Blue Flag beach is ideal. The Grand Bahia Principe La Romana and the Luxury Bahia Principe Bouganville's beachfront is now a Blue Flag awarded beach. The beach has a lifeguard, facilities, and handicapped access, as well as water quality and other Blue Flag required information displayed. Beach goers enjoying the beach in front of the Grand Bahia Principe La Romana and the Luxury Bahia Principe Bouganville can now enjoy an ecologically sustainable beachfront and clean ocean water.
