The 5th Annual SANTA Monica Pub Crawl Hits the Streets of Santa Monica on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013

Thousands of Festive Crawlers Will Spread Holiday Cheer at the City's Best Bars & Restaurants and Raise Money for Those in Need Through the Westside Food Bank

The 5th Annual SANTA Monica Pub Crawl, presented by Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce, Buy Local and Spin PR, returns for the city's most festive night of the year on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013. Last year, more than 5,000 crawlers celebrated the season at the city's most cherished holiday event by filling the streets as joyous Santas, reindeer and elves, and raised enough money for 120,000 meals for the Westside Food Bank.

For the fifth anniversary, more than 30 bars and restaurants all over the city will come together to raise money for those in need. Participating bars on Wilshire, Main Street, The Pier and the Third Street Promenade, will offer crawlers food and drink specials as part of the SANTA Monica Pub Crawl festivities. Tickets are $10 for the official pub crawl wristband and are available at www.santamonicapubcrawl.com.

"We always look forward to the return of the SANTA Monica Pub Crawl," said Laurel Rosen, President and CEO of the Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce. "This event has quickly become one of the busiest nights of the year for our local businesses and proceeds benefit a great cause for families during the holidays."

"Westside Food Bank is thrilled to be the beneficiary agency for the SANTA Monica Pub Crawl, says Genevieve Riutort, Chief Development Officer for the Westside Food Bank. "The event has helped to raise awareness about the issue of hunger in our community while also giving people the opportunity to make a difference while having a great time. Over the past four years, the Santa Monica Pub Crawl has made it possible for Westside Food Bank to distribute about a quarter million more pounds of food for local families in need. That makes a huge impact, especially during the holidays."

SANTA Monica Pub Crawl participants are encouraged to dress in Santa/holiday attire so the streets of Santa Monica are filled with merry cheer. An Instagram contest will award the crawler(s) with the most impressive holiday gear with a special prize, so festive dress is highly recommended.

In order to participate, crawlers must purchase an official wristband, which allows them access to the drink and food specials at each official location, and entrance to the Official After Party for music, dancing, a photo booth, contests and more fun festivities. The pub crawl includes bars on Wilshire, Main Street, The Pier and Third Street Promenade, as well as offerings from select eateries, like Joe's Pizza and the Border Grill Food Truck. Pub Crawl specials include: $4 beer at Areal, 2 for $5 Steak Tacos at Rusty's Surf Ranch, half off appetizers & $3 Holiday Shooters at Hooters of Santa Monica, $5 Whiskey Shots at O'Briens Pub on Wilshire and more. Crawlers can download the official "SM Pub Crawl" Mobile App to get a complete list of bars, routes, specials, updates etc.

The SANTA Monica Pub Crawl is a community event and encourages responsible drinking. Don't DRINK and DRIVE, and assign a designated driver at the beginning of the night, call a taxi, or use public transportation. The Big Blue Bus will be selling unlimited bus passes for $4 on the pub crawl web site. Taxi Magic is our official taxi partner and is donating a portion of all proceeds from the night to the Westside Food Bank. Additionally, new users can receive $15 off Uber rides with code SMPC, and Santa Monica Free Ride vehicles will be giving free rides up and down each route and handing out Vita Coco Coconut Water for crawlers to hydrate along the way.
