Texas Children’s Author Melissa M. Williams Visits Eagle Mountain/Saginaw ISD Elementary Schools

(I-Newswire) October 31, 2009 - Elementary school students in the Eagle Mountain/Saginaw ISD will will learn about the importance of reading, studying and nourishing their creative spirit. They will also get a chance to purchase copies of the children’s chapter book series—Iggy the Iguana—and have them autographed by the author--Melissa M. Williams.

A resident and graduate of the greater Houston, TX area, Melissa M. Williams will visit three more Texas schools as part of her 2009 School Tour in her efforts to share two passions of her childhood—reptiles and literature. Having met with students from more than 80 schools in Texas this year alone, Melissa M. Williams works to share insight into the story writing process, which stemmed and started when she was eight years-old. Incorporating student participation, Melissa M. Williams lectures to entire third, fourth and fifth grade classes, offering impromptu sessions where the students learn how to develop a character of their own and "think outside the box."

As co-founder to the READ3Zero foundation for kids, Melissa M. Williams challenges and encourages students to read and offers a means to discover new ways to make learning fun again for students in the classroom. Students are offered a chance to win many of the various Iggy the Iguana products, from book bags, Iggy T-shirts, copies of both books in the series—“Iggy the Iguana” and “Summer League” plush dolls and more. Melissa M. Williams also features school presentations for Junior High and High School students, which vary on presentation but the message is the same: Literacy, Creativity, and Learning.
