Tech Imaging And Talamas Demo Sound Devices Technology At The 2012 NEBCExpo

Tech Imaging joins Talamas at the 2012 New England Broadcast Cable Expo on October 16th

Tech Imaging Services joins Talamas Broadcast Equipment to demonstrate Sound Devices technology at New England Broadcast Cable Expo On October 16th, the Talamas Broadcast team and, Jason O'Connell, owner of Tech Imaging Services, will host a demonstration showing how Sound Devices PIX 240 audio/video recorders can aid in maximizing productivity for clients.

As experts in the use of high-speed digital cameras Tech Imaging are constantly on the lookout for technology that better enables them to save time, money and improve workflow in the field and the studio. Having recently purchased four Sound Devices PIX 240s, from Talamas, O'Connell has firsthand knowledge of the benefits offered by the PIX line. "Generally," says O'Connell, "you capture the event and either download it using Gigabit Ethernet, which is relatively slow - 15 to 20 minute downloads depending on the file sizes - or through flash memory, which can get costly. With the PIX 240s, as your reviewing footage, as you're hitting record, you're offloading from the PIX 240 directly to the PIX Caddy's hard drive - on the fly - in Avid DNX or Apple Pro Res formats."

The result is less hassle all around, he continues: "Say you do 20 takes in the day, and each takes anywhere from 10 to 20 minutes to download. That's significant downtime. Then there's more downtime when you're reconverting those files." Bottom line; the more quickly you can accomplish that, the more the client benefits. "At the end of the day, they get all of their footage in the format they want. That saves a day of offloading the information and reconverting it, so you're improving workflow and getting more takes throughout the day for your client."

Ultimately, everybody wins. "Anyone who's worked with high-speed cameras is familiar with the process and knows that improving workflow allows you to be more productive," O'Connell says. "That's what this device offers; more productivity."

And just how impressive is that improvement? Join the Talamas team and Tech Imaging at the Talamas booth on October 16th to find out, and watch O'Connell and Talamas demonstrate the PIX 240 in action as well as provide an up close look at the latest Sound Devices audio and video technology on offer from Talamas.
