Tampa Boys & Girls Club Teens Excited About Web Development
From brainstorming about concepts to actually building a website, some Tampa teenagers are learning the ropes from industry experts. Nikita Polyakov, a Microsoft MVP at AgileThought, Inc., led the teens in designing and developing a website.
Online, August 17, 2011 (Newswire.com) - From brainstorming about concepts to actually building a website, some Tampa teenagers are learning the ropes from industry experts. Nikita Polyakov, a Microsoft MVP at AgileThought, Inc., led the teens in creating a website as part of a series of educational programs established by the Tampa Bay Technology Forum Foundation, Inc. and held at the Jim Walter Interbay Club of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Tampa Bay. The Foundation's new "Adopt A Club" program was established earlier this year to provide TBTF member companies and their employees the opportunity to have actual face-time with children attending the Boys & Girls Clubs. The Foundation is a 501c3 organization that gives at risk youth a forum to meet and learn from local experts who hope to educate and inspire an interest in the areas of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).
AgileThought is one of three pilot companies currently involved in the Foundation's "Adopt A Club" program. Polyakov participated in the STEM program by providing Microsoft Expression Blend's Sketchflow training. He worked with the teens to produce a website that promotes their club, as well the club's fundraising efforts. They were involved throughout the entire process, from design of the initial concept to building and launching the website. Plans are to showcase the site in August at the Foundation's annual TechJam.
"By giving teens the opportunity to be involved in a hands-on learning environment, our goal is to create a greater awareness of the fields they can aspire to work in as adults. Hopefully, they will be encouraged to continue the learning process and be excited about pursuing careers in technology," says Polyakov.
