New Site Serves as Resource on Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and Character Development in Children and Adolescents

(I-Newswire) October 12, 2010 - Success for Kids, Inc. (SFK) today unveiled a redesigned and upgraded website to serve as a resource to school administrators, teachers, non-profit organizations, and parents around the world on character development also known as Social Emotional Learning (SEL). Visitors to the site are presented with information about how SFK uses SEL to help at-risk youth and teens realize and reach their full potential. The website also provides access to mentoring and volunteer opportunities worldwide.

Visitors to the redesigned www.sfk.org site will find:

• The SFK Curriculum (using Social Emotional Learning) for educators, administrators, parents and community-based organizations
• Programmatic impact of SFK’s programs on students around the world
• Volunteer and mentoring opportunities in the United States and abroad
• Ways to support SFK’s mission to empower at-risk children and adolescents to become resilient, productive citizens and give them a greater sense of purpose in their lives.
• An easy to navigate site

“This new site is a user-friendly environment for parents, teachers and supporters to connect to SFK’s programs,” said Dwayne Ashley, Chief Executive Officer, Global Operations for Success for Kids, Inc. “We know that building a child’s self esteem is the key ingredient to helping them realize their purpose and ultimate potential. Our goal is to partner with communities to ensure the next generation of leaders are empowered to achieve their rightful places as productive human beings.”

Visitors such as parents of children enrolled in SFK programs and parents who are interested in SFK can now access program lessons, benefits to students and expected outcomes following completion. The site will answer important questions for those interested in volunteering, making a monetary contribution or learning more about SFK’s special approach to helping more than 60,000 children and adolescents strengthen their life skills.

“Given the large numbers of educators, parents, churches and community organizations who reach out to us for information and support on our ‘character education’ programs, the site will be a great resource for them as well as the public as a whole,” said Ashley.

The site will also serve public school teachers and leaders of community-based organizations around the world who will participate in teaching SFK’s curriculum.
