San Diego (I-Newswire) January 10, 2012 - Subsea fiber optic connectors are the essential components for passing data in the harsh environment undersea. Sourcing viable low cost applications in the current economic conditions is an increasingly important aspect of cost management

Subsea Connectors are a vital part of the modern world and commerce. Fiber optic connectors are responsible for the sending and recieving of vital data.

This could be across the global broadband network, operations on a military naval vessel or in the role of exploration of the deep oceans.

Subsea Fiber Optic Connectors have proved to be expensive items requiring extoic materials often in the form of Bespoke alloys in their construction and a rigourous testing regime prior to product launch to ensure the quality of operation.

Now SEA CON has developed a new cost efficient fiber optic connector. Designed to provide a single channel connector which is suitable for use undersea at low cost. A single channel connector brings many benfits to the end user. By delivering a single use connector with adapability SEA CON has helped reduce installtion and maintenance costs for users.

The cable assemblies are terminated at each end with a Cable Connector Plug (CCP) and the Bulkhead Connector Receptacle (BCR) has pigtails terminated with standard ST connectors.

The affordable single channel fiber optic connector is easy to connect, plug & lock and provides an insertion loss 0.5 dB typical (1.0 dB max).

The connector is designed to work at pressure: 1,000 psi max (700m) and 2,000 psi when mated providing 20 mate/de-mate cycles.

The Cable Connector Plug is a Neoprene assembly and the Bulkhead Connector Receptacle is GRE Glass Reinforced Epoxy.

The cable is suited to a high traffic and data flow role and in areas of high EMI or Electro Magnetic Interference.

The SEA COn team will be exhibiting at the Underwater Intervention event January 24th -26th 2012 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center stands 705 -706.

Founded in 1964 by Willard Brantner, the company started manufacturing underwater electrical connectors in San Diego in 1968.

Today the company now has manufacturing facilities in California, Texas and Rhode Island, USA, Mexico, Norway and the United Kingdom and exports it’s range of products through a worldwide network of agencies and representatives.
