The management at KIAMS ensures students take a break from their hectic schedules and de-stress themselves every once in a while. This is the reason Non-Instructional Days are scheduled. Students enjoy this break and indulge in their favourite recreational activities. Asked about the activities they indulge in on a typical Non-Instructional Day, most students said they go shopping, hang around with friends, go to their favourite eating places, watch movies, play cricket and involve themselves in various other recreational activities - studying is the last thing they like to do on an NID. Bhooshan Khadgi from KIAMS said he loved: "Moving down to the city for some shopping, movie or different kind of food."

Another student, Mrinali Rao, also enjoyed going to the city. She said: "A Non-Instructional Day is my day off where I get to go to the city and meet up with friends and do what I want to do, like shopping, eating out etc." While Deepak Soni said he completes all his pending works on an NID. Pune, being a student friendly city has the KIAMS students going to Lakshmi Road, MG Road, Deccanand Shivaji Nagar- hangout and shopping mall hubs!

The basic idea behind a Non-Instructional Day is to allow students to take a break from the routine of study life and students actually make the most of it.

Says Aadil Ahmed, a second year student, " In Harihar, we frequent Vaibhav Restaurant, Nikita Restaurant, Sai Sagar, Empire and Yaadgar. Then there is also Pooja Dhaba. Besides these, we also go to Davanagere to Pooja International, Sai International, Sarovar and Aquadine.

There is also a Cafe Coffee Day in Davanagere that has regular visits from KIAMS students. Besides these, there are not much places in Harihar or Davanagere to visit except some small stalls of Pani Puri or small fast food joints. In Harihar, students do go to the banks of Tungabhadra river to have some good time. Mostly, if we have any holidays, there are many places close by where one can go to enjoy." Students were asked if they preferred indulging in educational activities on an NID and there was hardly anyone who said yes. "A day with some musical instrument trainer will be better than some educational-related activities," said Booshan Khadgi.

A Non-Instructional Day is meant for students to relax and enjoy a day off!
