StrataLiner 3D Lightweight Composite Boards Now Offer Industry Leading Forming and Acoustical Performance

StrataLiner 3D lightweight composite boards offer industry leading forming capability combined with excellent structural integrity and superior acoustical performance.

StrataLiner 3D lightweight composite boards offer industry leading forming capability combined with excellent structural integrity and superior acoustical performance. This innovative solution is used to manufacture automotive headliners and a variety of interior parts including; load floors, deck lids and package trays.

Vince Benincasa, Vice President and General Manager StrataForm, The Woodbridge Group states, "As you can see here at the North American International Auto Show, today's headliners have evolved into intricate designs that must support overhead systems while providing good sound management. As competing materials have trouble balancing support and acoustics, Woodbridge is very excited about this newly developed polyurethane composite board. This improved forming solution offers industry leading, strength, stiffness, and acoustics at the lowest possible mass. As its namesake suggests, StrataLiner 3D can be formed into complex geometries with deep draws, but the key material innovation enables this offering as the only one on the market that can meet product rigidity and support requirements while providing excellent sound management capabilities."

StrataLiner 3D boards are manufactured by laminating engineered reinforcement layers to custom formulated polyurethane substrates, providing superior rigidity in a product that is up to 35% lighter than the leading competing material. This innovation offers several product design enhancements including: optimized cost opportunities through managing density, thickness and reinforcement layers, reduced weight, greater acoustical performance, no loft properties to improve surface quality and recycled content capability. StrataLiner 3D composite boards provide a more customizable composition and construction to better meet any customer requirement.

The Woodbridge Group and its partners in The World Polyurethane Alliance operate 60 facilities in 17 countries, as global leaders in the development and production of polyurethane and expanded polypropylene products. Automotive applications include components for seating, structural support, interior soft trim products, headliner systems, cargo management solutions, and engineered products for occupant protection and acoustical management. Woodbridge also offers contract assembly and sequencing and supply chain management, as well as a full range of value added services including engineering and design.
