Stop Hunger Now...A Community Effort!

Working to Alleviate the Tragedy of Hunger, 750 People Will Gather at Redeemer Lutheran Church, McLean, VA. to Package 200,000 Meals!

In a world that has the ability for every human being to have at least 3,500 calories of food a day, 25,000 people die of hunger related causes every 24 hours!

STOP HUNGER NOW-McLean is an initiative that rally's the support of volunteers of all ages, inviting families, schools, sports teams, civic organizations, and all faith communities to package thousands of meals in one day with volunteers working two hour assembly-line shifts (8:30am,10:30am,1:30pm ). Their goal November,2010 was 100,000, in June-150,000 and in November,2011 will be 200,000.

Volunteers package dehydrated, high protein, and highly nutritious meals that are used in crisis situations and in school feeding programs for schools and orphanages in developing countries around the world. The meals are non-perishable and each bag contains six one-cup servings. They include a seasoning packet that contains 21 different nutrients that are essential in fighting malnutrition.

Bob Hahne, Director of the Chain Bridge Bank in McLean and member of the McLean Rotary Club is the founder of Stop Hunger Now-McLean. "I think the goal of every major faith in this world is to bring men and women together to work for the greater good," Hahne says. "We hope the local community and the world can recognize what we are all capable of. When you start looking at world hunger, solving that can lead to world peace."

Stop Hunger Now is an international hunger relief organization and has been fulfilling its commitment to end hunger for more than 12 years. Its mission is to end hunger in our lifetime. Since 1998, the organization has coordinated the distribution of food and other lifesaving aid to children and families in countries all over the world.
