Winston-Salem, NC, October 12, 2009: The Stocked Pot Cooking School located at 381 Jonestown Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27104 announces the return of the popular basic cooking series, Back to Basics 101, meeting at 6:30 PM every Tuesday night starting October 20 through November 17. Chef Don is the instructor of this hands-on cooking series, where all students receive one-on-one culinary training. The series will begin with basic knife skills that include how to hold, sharpen and keep a knife sharp. From there, each student will learn basic cutting skills such as cutting vegetables, chicken and seafood. The series will continue with baking, vegetables, meats and sauces. Upon completion of this five week series, the student will be able to navigate around the kitchen and to create “made from scratch” dishes to please their families and friends as well as receiving a certificate of completion. After Back to Basics 101, The Stocked Pot offers follow up classes with the Intermediate Back to Basics 201 and the Advanced Back to Basics 301. After completing the 15 weeks of classes, each student will be able to sign up to be an Iron Chef, where each student receives an official chef jacket with their name and their own title.
