Statistics Confirm, Hands-On Botox Training is Essential for Capturing Growth in the Aesthetic Medicine Market

The International Association for Physicians in Aesthetic Medicine (IAPAM) offers the industry's leading training for physicians new to botox and dermal filler treatments.

(I-Newswire) April 9, 2010 - The IAPAM's Aesthetic Medicine Symposium offers the most comprehensive medical and business training for doctors looking to add aesthetic medicine to their existing practices, or to launch a new medical spa. All hands-on training at the IAPAM's Aesthetic Medicine Symposium is completed in a clean, multi-million dollar medical facility.

In the recently released statistical report by the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS), the number of non-invasive cosmetic procedures performed in the United States increased by 47 percent from 2008 to 2009. "The results show a continuation of the trend, where consumers are opting to have less invasive procedures to look and feel refreshed. The economy is playing a large role in the growing trend. Not only are consumers having less-costly procedures, but 80 percent of physicians surveyed say patients are making these choices in order to remain competitive in the workplace," the report stated.

The AAFPRS statistics are consistent with those published by the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) earlier this year, which reported that surgical procedures declined by 17%, while non-surgical treatments showed growth. The ASAPS 2009 Statistics support the position that botox, as well as the other top 4 non-surgical procedures, will continue to be the aesthetic treatments of choice in the next decade. However, only physicians who have completed comprehensive, multi-day programs, akin to those offered through organizations like the IAPAM, can safely and successfully capture their portion of this consistently growing market.

Finally, Jeff Russell, Executive Director of the IAPAM, concurs with the findings of the aforementioned reports. "We are hearing from our members that minimally invasive procedures like botox, dermal fillers as well as microdermabrasion are in tremendous demand by patients, and we are seeing a correlating increase in the demand for our botox training. Registration for our cornerstone training program, the IAPAM's Aesthetic Medicine Symposium, has also dramatically increased in the last 6 months. Physicians are realizing they not only need to offer botox treatments to their patients, but also laser hair removal, IPL skin rejuvenation, chemical peels, and microdermabrasion. Organizations, like the IAPAM, educate doctors on how to package treatments for the most appealing and profitable outcomes." Mr. Russell has also recieved comments from IAPAM members regarding "the importance of adding an hCG/medical weight management offering to patients, in order to grow a practice."

In line with these findings, the IAPAM's botox training is the central component of the it's Aesthetic Medicine Symposium. The Aesthetic Medicine Symposium provides a forum for physicians to immerse themselves in their training on the top 5 minimally invasive procedures. Leading the faculty is a team of renowned cosmetic dermatologists who cover aesthetic patient consultations, facial anatomy & musculature, product preparation, pain management, procedural protocols, post treatment issues and continuing practice support. Equally, the IAPAM has now added a day of focused training on how to profitably add hCG and Medically Supervised Weight Loss to a medical practice or medspa. Indeed, doctors who have completed the IAPAM's Weight Loss, Aesthetic Medicine and Business training certainly have a competitive advantage.
