Spectrum Direct and LinkValu Holiday Project – stocking local food pantry

Employees at LinkValu and Spectrum Direct collected non-perishable food for a local food bank for Christmas. There is hunger problem in even the wealthiest communities. It can be solved if we all give a little, in the holiday spirit.

(I-Newswire) December 25, 2009 - December 24, 2009 – Mission Viejo, CA. There is hunger in your local community. With unemployment at record highs and the economy faltering, many local food pantries are running low on donations and have to turn away hungry families. A recent article in the Orange County (CA) Register told of this growing problem. In an article on November 18, 2009 they reported that the Orange County Food Bank helped nearly 1.5 million people in 2009, a 53 percent jump from 2008. Without an increase in donations it will not be possible to serve the community needs. This situation is being seen throughout our country, and there is something everyone can do about it- give.

Realizing that many fellow Americans and fellow Orange County residents have lost their jobs and are possibly going hungry, Spectrum Direct employees have decided to give back to the community. “We are grateful for our blessings and want to share with our community” said President Sy Alter. “We’re glad we can give back locally, the need is enormous.”

The employees of Spectrum Direct Insurance Services, Inc. and LinkValu Affiliate Network collected over 60 lbs. of food for a local food bank. “Wouldn’t it be wonderful if this type of generosity could become viral?” asked Alter, “Think of the good we can each do by one small act, like donating to your local food bank.” Food banks can be found in every community, and donations of money or non-perishable food are accepted year round, but the holidays bring a critical demand.
