Space Design Incorporated Team Joins Nelson

Philadelphia (I-Newswire) February 22, 2013 - Nelson, a global design, architecture, engineering and planning firm, has reached an agreement with Space Design Incorporated Principal Angel DeElse and her staff to join NELSON’s Philadelphia/Mid-Atlantic operations. Space Design Incorporated is an interior design and architectural firm with a strong local legacy and a proven reputation for client service and workplace insights. The entire Space Design Incorporated team and its leadership will make the transition to become NELSON Teammates while continuing to serve their current client relationships. This is the second expansion for NELSON in the Philadelphia area in the last four months. In October 2012, NELSON announced a transaction with H2L2, a firm with a 107-year legacy in Philadelphia and global Academic and Infrastructure practices.
“NELSON and the Space Design Team share a similar heritage as design specialists with over 35 years of experience and a common commitment to superior client service,” said John “Ozzie” Nelson, Jr., President and CEO of NELSON. “While our development paths quickly diverged, there are complementary aspects to our corporate client base. NELSON has an established corporate account structure providing superior design and consultative services to clients in the tri-state area, across the country and around the world. This growth, along with our successful October 2012 transaction with H2L2, further enables NELSON to establish Philadelphia as the home base for our global Academic and Infrastructure practices. When you add the diverse local clients and strong tenant and broker relationships that come with these individuals, Angel DeElse, who will act as the Philadelphia Managing Director, has all the tools necessary to lead our regional operations in the pursuit of continued excellence and substantial growth. We think it’s the perfect complement to all that we have been able to achieve throughout our network.”
Space Design Incorporated began as Space Data Group in 1975 and was a subsidiary of Ewing Cole in Philadelphia, separating three years later. Over the next decade the firm continued to grow and also launched a CADD integration company that sold AutoCAD software and related equipment to local architectural, engineering and design firms, which enabled it to become the first Philadelphia design firm to fully automate the design and documentation process. In late 1986, Space Data Group acquired The Design Partnership and changed its name to the current Space Design Incorporated. Since that time the Space Design Team has chosen to focus on selected clients, many of whom have retained their relationships with the Space Design Team for more than 25 years. Because of their strong relationships and service skills, the Space Design Team has grown its business almost exclusively through repeat business and client referrals. The Space Design Team also has developed successful specialty services in tenant planning and space measurement.
“The Space Design Team and NELSON are truly built on common ground,” said Angel DeElse, Space Design Incorporated Partner and Project Executive. “We share a thorough understanding of our clients’ businesses, objectives and needs, and a commitment to the constant pursuit of creative excellence and innovative solutions that build and enhance strong client relationships. We will keep the best of these attributes – including a focus on providing personalized and personable service in the regional market – while incorporating the best of what NELSON offers, such as the ability to provide consistent, repeatable results around the world that add value for major accounts.”
NELSON will now have offices in 32 locations and is comprised of almost 400 designers, architects, engineers, planners and strategists – more than 90 people in the Philadelphia market.
