SoWink Targets the Next Generation of Online Daters With Release of Beta Product

San Jose, CA (I-Newswire) July 16, 2011 - SoWink, an up-and-coming social online dating website, launched Closed Beta this week. The service aims to revolutionize online dating by simulating how the dating process works in the real world — abandoning matching algorithms and enabling a platform for organic chemistry to develop.

During the closed beta period, all users registering with an .edu email address will be able to bypass verification steps and will be granted immediate access to the service. For other users, they may gain access to the site by inviting three friends or be invited by another user. The beta version allows registered users to create a profile where they can answer non-traditional questions about themselves, take an insightful personality quiz—which is the contemporary equivalent of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator—and create private groups to engage in group dating and interactions. It also includes social elements in which users can interact and network with each other for purposes other than dating.

Every registered user will also be subject to review by the community in order to keep the database of users active, relevant, and real. In an effort to cultivate the first safe online dating service, SoWink will be charging a small monthly premium that even starving college students” can afford. By doing so, SoWink will be able to effectively verify users’ identities through credit card information, preventing the issue of fake accounts that take away from the collective user experience.
