Southwest Florida Firm Goes Green and Installs Solars Panels

Southwest Florida company, Allyn International (Allyn) are installing solar panels at its corporate headquarters in Fort Myers. This will provide a more cost-effective energy solution as well as reduce Allyn’s carbon footprint.

Fort Myers, Florida (I-Newswire) December 13, 2012 - Allyn International (Allyn) has signed an agreement with FAFCO Solar Energy to install solar panels at its corporate headquarters in Fort Myers. This will provide a more cost-effective energy solution as well as reduce Allyn’s carbon footprint.

The commercial photovoltaic system will be comprised of 109 solar modules affixed to the roof of Allyn’s building on McGregor Boulevard. The modules will tilt south and receive an average of 5.3 hours of sunlight per day.

Each solar module is rated at 240 watts for a total of 26.16 kilowatts. The entire system is estimated to produce 50,607 kilowatt-hours annually. A kilowatt-hour is a measure of energy consumed in a specific time. The system is expected to save Allyn $6579 per year in energy costs.

“On a business level, we have been working with renewable energy companies for at least 10 years on large commercial projects,” commented Allen Trevett, CEO of Allyn. “Adding solar power to our own building indicates a commitment to clean energy on the consumer level.”

The solar modules will be installed onto Allyn’s building in phases. Securing mounting brackets to the roof will be done during phase one. The entire project will be completed by the end of the year.

There are many advantages to solar energy – the energy is free and supplied by nature and the systems are environmentally friendly. In addition, according to renewablegreenenergypower.com, solar panel costs have been dropping, making them more affordable for customers. Also, energy companies commonly offer incentives for cost-effective energy solutions.
