New Delhi (I-Newswire) December 16, 2010 - Sony India introduces its first ultra-compact, Interchangeable Lens Digital Cameras – the α NEX series. The α NEX series allow users to effortlessly capture stunning, DSLR quality photos with its new 14.2-megapixel Exmor TM APS HD CMOS image sensor. You can also capture full HD 1080i videos in AVCHD format with α NEX-5.
Sony has developed this new line of α NEX series with the objective of providing the power of professional imaging in the hands of common consumer. Anyone can now easily capture DSLR quality images, regardless of whether they are seasoned or amateur photographers. The α NEX series offer sleek form factor, as well as advanced technology features like Background Defocus, Full HD movie, 7fps High Speed shooting and 3D Sweep Panorama which allows users to capture professional photos effortlessly.
For experienced photographers, the lightweight cameras offer serious DSLR performance in a camera that they can easily carry with them at all times.
Compact, Stylish & Intuitive Design
Integrating a mirror less design, the α NEX-5 is the smallest and lightest interchangeable lens system camera. Weighing approximately 229g and measuring 110.8mm × 58.8mm × 38.2mm (W x H x D), the slim and stylish α NEX-5 provides both professional and amateur photographers the ideal digital camera to carry with them at all times. Measuring a mere 24.2mm thick, the top-of-line NEX-5 easily slips into pockets or handbags.
Unparalleled Image & Video Quality
Equipped with the latest Exmor™ APS HD CMOS image sensor and high speed BIONZ processor, the α NEX series deliver DSLR image quality and HD movie recording with richer tonal gradation and lower noise. The NEX-5 delivers Full HD 1080i movie recording in AVCHD format, while NEX-3 records 720p HD videos in MP4 format. The α NEX series also offer higher ISO sensitivity of up to 12800 which allows users to capture beautiful images even in low light
environments without having to use a tripod or flash.
Revolutionary DSLR Features
Users of the α NEX cameras will soon be able to capture high quality 3D panoramic photos with its new 3D Sweep Panorama mode. Based on the same Sweep Panorama technology used in existing Cyber-shot TX series models, the α NEX series can snap realistic 3D panoramic still images that can be displayed on compatible BRAVIA 3D TVs via an optional HDMI cable.
When activated, the Background Defocus Control feature lets photographers intuitively adjust background defocusing and depth of field to their desired level by simply rotating the control wheel. This allows users to easily control depth of field to make their subjects stand out dramatically from a blurred background. With the new iAuto (Intelligent Auto) mode, the scene recognition function automatically analyzes the scene to determine the correct exposure values and selects the optimum scene for true point-and-shoot simplicity.
Priority Continuous mode shooting at up to 7fps allows users to capture the motion of fast moving action. In addition to this, α NEX-5 and NEX-3 also feature the Handheld Twilight mode, letting them easily capture impressive, high resolution images in low light conditions without having to use a tripod or flash.
Furthermore, the 3-inch Xtra fine LCD monitor can be tilted 80° up and 45° down to allow users to view their subjects and shoot even at awkward angles. The screen features a high 921,600 dot resolution with its 16:9 widescreen display, and integrates TruBlack technology which allows subject details and subtle tonal gradations to be displayed with deep blacks and high contrast, making it easy to focus on subjects accurately.
Leveraging the power of its interchangeable lens system, the α NEX series lets photographers swap between lenses for greater flexibility and precision and shoot photos and videos with the ultra compact wide-angle, standard zoom, and high-power zoom E-mount lenses. With the optional Ultra Wide-Angle Converter and Fisheye Converter and via the use of the A-Mount Adaptor, photographers can also use the existing wide range of α A-mount lenses with the α NEX series, expanding imaging possibilities.
Each camera also sports a dual memory card slot which enables the use of both Memory Stick and SD media. The α NEX-5 and NEX-3 are compatible with the latest Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo HX media, enabling the fastest transfer speeds of up to 4 times that of the Memory Stick PRO Duo Mark 2 and maximizing continuous shooting with its large data capacity of up to 32GB.
The α NEX-5 is priced at Rs. 34,990 and α NEX-3 is priced at Rs. 29,990.
