Solstas Lab Partners has acquired Southern Diagnostic Laboratories of Birmingham, Alabama, as well as Nextwave Diagnostic Laboratories and Wilmington Pathology Laboratory (WPL), both based in Wilmington, N.C.

Greensboro, NC (I-Newswire) August 1, 2011 - Greensboro, NC-based Solstas Lab Partners, one of the nation’s fastest-growing full-service laboratories, has acquired Southern Diagnostic Laboratories of Birmingham, Alabama, as well as Nextwave Diagnostic Laboratories and Wilmington Pathology Laboratory (WPL), both based in Wilmington, N.C.

“All three of these exceptional labs mirror our patient-first mentality at Solstas, and they will be a seamless fit for our growing company,” said Solstas CEO, David Weavil. “Each of them aligns perfectly with our vision to expand Solstas’ presence and offer clients and patients a local, community-based, service-focused laboratory.”

A regional lab with an impeccable record of client service and industry-leading turnaround times, Southern Diagnostics was a natural fit for Solstas’ expansion. The Birmingham-based lab will continue to deliver high-quality anatomic pathology, cytology, hematology, microbiology, molecular, serology and other testing services, and expand Solstas’ reach westward.

Nextwave was founded on a desire by local healthcare provider need for a higher level of clinical laboratory service and accessibility within the Wilmington community, and its client base is comprised primarily of area physicians and nursing homes.

WPL is a highly respected local laboratory with an acute focus on cytology, particularly Pap and HPV testing. It offers a broad range of histology services to hospitals and physicians, with exclusive services provided to Wilmington Pathology Associates (WPA), a prestigious anatomic pathology group.

“Each of these acquisitions is a perfect complement to what we believe in – and invest in – at Solstas,” said Weavil.
