The scanning service allows tutoring centers and schools automatic scoring of hundreds of paper bubble sheets simultaneously saving both time and money spent grading practice tests manually.
Bubble sheet forms are most commonly used for capturing responses on standardized tests like the SAT and ACT. While bubble sheets make capturing test responses easier, calculating test scores can still take up to an hour per test. To use the scanning service customers simply print copies of Socrato's free bubblesheet template for the desired SAT or ACT test and provide them to students for marking answers during practice tests. The free template allows tutors to have bubble sheets in hand instantly, saving the cost of purchasing standard ACT and SAT answer forms.
Once a practice test is completed customers have two methods for processing bubble sheets: 1) Digitally - One can scan the batch of bubble sheets using a conventional home or office scanner and submit them to Socrato in a PDF format via e-mail, 2) Hard copy - Mail the paper bubble sheets to Socrato using USPS, FedEx or similar provider. Upon receipt the bubble sheets are procssed and the data is compiled and e-mailed back to the customer in an easy to read Excel file within 3 business days. Cost of the scanning service ranges from $0.50 to $1.00 for a minimum order of 50 bubble sheets plus the cost of shipping if return service is requested for the hardcopy bubble sheets.
