Social Networks Team Up To Fight Against Malwares

Popular Social Networks like, Google, Twitter, Facebook and others have unified together with a project called StopBadware to fight against online advertising that generates viruses and scams.

Los Angeles (I-Newswire) July 7, 2012 - Social networking platforms like Twitter, Google, Facebook and many others have joined the league with StopBadware project by StopBadware.org, developed in the year 2006 to fight against malware that are circulated by online advertising agencies. The team has collectively formed a group, called the 'Ads Integrity Alliance' to share information about how to hold back spammers and hackers from spreading malware and selling them online through internet advertising. Including online companies like, AOL.com and the Interactive Advertising Bureau in its list of founders, the group will share information on the latest online scam and fraud and the preventive measure that the websites should take to fight against such malware by hindering the assailants that creates inconvenience for the users.

Max Weinstein, the Executive Director of StopBadware believes that, although it is not an easy task to fight against the malware security problem caused by advertisement, yet the group formed should find out the best possible method to do away with all the malicious entities. He also emphasized that 'Ads Integrity Alliance' has been formed to get rid of this problem efficiently. Companies should eradicate such malicious viruses or the advertisement carrying them, before they make their abode in the user's desktop.

Insisting upon the alliance, Google too wrote in its blog that it is hard to detect those "malvertisments", as they pop up occasionally. Hence, all the online companies should come forward and join the alliance to discuss about the best methods and practices to stop such malwares. In this context, Google also cited an example as how it blocked more than 800,000 advertisers and 130 million ads in the year 2011 for violating its policies.

Apart from sharing information on how to handle mal advertisers and advertisements, the 'Ads Integrity Alliance' group will also be responsible in informing the users and the policy makers about the challenges and sharing preventive measure to deal will the problem, said Weinstein.
