(LEAP) LLC will award a community–based non-profit art education organization in the District of Columbia with laptops during the 30th Annual Congressional Art Competition, featuring the honorary chair, Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC).

Washington, D.C (I-Newswire) May 19, 2011 - Washington, D.C. – Local government contracting firm, Lawrence Executive Alliance of Professionals, (LEAP) LLC is excited to provide community–based non-profit art education organizations in the District of Columbia with laptops. LEAP’s “Teachers for Technology” initiative will allow these deserving organizations to provide high-quality arts instruction to students.

LEAP’s President and CEO, Dr. Clayton Lawrence expresses his commitment and support of the “Teachers for Technology” initiative stating that “arts and humanities are integral to students during the formative stages of their development. Cuts in school funding priorities have disproportionately affected art education. Computers are pivotal in giving students access to experiences that are not limited to their local environment and puts the worlds of math, science and technology at their fingertips.”

In support of the 30th Annual Congressional Art Competition, “An Artistic Discovery,” LEAP is a member of the DC Congressional Art Competition Committee responsible for conducting the competition in the District of Columbia; Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) is the Honorary Chair. The DC Congressional Art Competition is open to all D.C. school students in grades 8-12. The winning artwork is displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol in a national exhibit of winning artwork from the congressional district of every member of the House of Representatives.

“With the growing global, economic market, students’ knowledge and exposure to advanced technology is paramount to their academic success, and we must solicit all available resources to provide students with equal access to education,” Dr. Lawrence said.

The “Teachers for Technology” initiative recipients will be announced at the DC Congressional Art Competition Exhibit & Reception on Saturday, May 21, 2011 at the Willard Hotel, a symbol for cultural and artistic achievement here in the District of Columbia.
