Skyscanner Investigates Which Americans are Celebrating St. Paddy’s Day in Ireland

(I-Newswire) March 11, 2010 - St. Patrick's Day is a festive day in the US, with so many people claiming Ireland as the place where their ancestors came from; even if it's just a lie in order to really get into the spirit of things. But there's really no better way to spend the holiday than in the homeland of the man himself: in Saint Patrick's Ireland. In the three weeks leading up to Shamrock Day, Skyscanner tracked flight bookings departing from US cities, like flights from New York, to the Emerald Isle. Out of 11 cities, New York took the top spot, although cheap flights from Bostonspiked this month; coming in a close-second. So expect to see one or two New Yorkers while on your St. Patty's journey. And just an FYI: don't be afraid of their tough exterior, because once you get them to shed that hard shell, they're generally just as friendly and sweet as your average small-towner!

Whomever you may bump into, even if, hopefully, some are of the short and mythical variety, in the words of the Irish, "May the leprechauns be near you to spread luck along your way."
