London (I-Newswire) October 7, 2011 - Business process improvement activities and data management are joined at the hip. Business processes can cut across multiple departments and products. In addition business processes don't stop at the four walls of the enterprise and can include partners, suppliers and customers with whom the enterprise does business. As a result business data is often held within multiple on premise, off premise and cloud based applications and databases.
In order to deliver successful process improvement and rapid return on investment BPM and Case Management platforms must have the ability to extract, consume and reload business data wherever it resides.

Data Virtualization
At v5.3 TotalAgility delivers support for data virtualization. Through the use of virtual entities TotalAgility v5.3 allows users to "link data and sync data" wherever it resides, delivering data independence from the process. The process can interact with data located in an external data source as if it was an entity defined as part of the process. Virtualization of data entities at the logical level inside the BPMS allows the same data models to be reused across multiple processes significantly reducing development and integration costs.
In addition virtual entities can be automatically created in TotalAgility that replicate the structure and data of a single entity in an external data source table speeding up process development and delivering interaction with data as if it was part of TotalAgility.
External Data Source Support
Business data can reside within multiple databases and applications inside and outside the organization. At v5.3 of TotalAgility the attributes of an entity can be stored in an external database and data can be retrieved, updated, created and deleted via Data Access Service (DAS) or Web service calls. This allows a single view of a business object to be created regardless of where the actual data resides.
Just in Time Data
The agile organization must be able to make decisions based on real time data rather than data that is days or weeks old. To ensure that the most up to date version of the data is being used by the process at v5.3 the TotalAgility product supports the concept of Just In Time (JIT) data where the data presented to the process is updated or reloaded once it is called by the process.
Entity Definition and Management
At v5.3 the definition and management of entities has been made even more intuitive. In addition TotalAgility delivers support for a visual representation of an entity and all related entities including embedded entities and entity lists.
Microsoft Dynamics Enhanced Data Handling
In v5.3 TotalAgility extends its integration with Microsoft Dynamics CRM by allowing the user to specify that particular attributes of an entity are stored in Dynamics CRM and configure methods to dynamically retrieve, update, create and delete those attributes and associated instances.
