Financial consultant Gene Siciliano was elected Chairman of the Board of Directors for New Horizons, a San Fernando Valley based non-profit organization serving more than 800 adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Mr. Siciliano brings an accomplished background in finance to his leadership role with New Horizons, an asset the organization holds in high regard given the fiscal challenges it faces as a result of reductions in Government funding.

Gene has served as a financial consultant and held leadership positions in the Non-Profit sector for more than 13 years. Prior to joining New Horizons' Board of Directors in 2006, he served as Chairman of the Board for the Exceptional Children's Foundation where he continues to serve as a Director today.

As Founder and President of Western Management Associates, Gene has served as Chief Financial Officer or outside financial advisor to nearly 100 privately owned and publicly traded companies. He is the author of 3 books on finance: Finance for Nonfinancial Managers (McGraw-Hill, 2003), Finance for Administrative Assistants (Acanthus Press, 2006) and Financial Mastery for the Career Teacher (Corwin Press, 2010).

Siciliano understands the challenges he faces and is prepared to lead New Horizons through one of the most difficult economic eras the organization has experienced. "We've seen a new challenge arise that could threaten the very existence of organizations like ours - the critical need to become less dependent on the public funding sources that have accounted for so much of our revenues in years past," Siciliano stated at New Horizons' Champions for Independence recognition banquet held last month to honor the organizations' top donors.

Mr. Siciliano succeeds Past Chairman Stan Bryant as his 4 years of leadership came to a close on June 30, 2011. Mr. Bryant, who achieved such accolades as "Citizen of the Decade" (Kiwanis Club of Northridge) and "Small Businessman of the Year" (United Chambers of Commerce) during his tenure with New Horizons, has been an integral part of the organizations' success since joining the Board of Directors in 1997.

New Horizons also welcomes seven new Directors to the Board for a two-year term: Joel Simon (Attorney - Alperstein, Simon, Farkas, Gillin and Scott), Stu Jaffe (Managing Parter - Kirsch, Kohn and Bridge), Ken Miles (Managing Parter - NSBN), Sister Colleen Nettles (Chief Mission Integration Officer - Providence Health), Greig Smith (Former City Councilmember, 12th District), Mark Studner (New Horizons Client) and Christine Ward (Field Representative, Assemblyman Cameron Smyth).
