SGS Receives Official Approval to Execute Building Certification and Inspection Services in its Tokyo Office

(I-Newswire) August 10, 2010 - In July 2010, SGS received the official approval to execute Building Certification and Building Inspection Services in its new office in Tokyo from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT).

Since October 30, 2009, SGS has been one of the designated bodies in Japan able to conduct building certification and building inspection services according to the Building Standard Law (BSL) of Japan and is authorized to perform the verification of building plans as well as interim inspections and completion inspection services throughout the whole country. However, until July 2010, the execution of Building Certification and Building Inspection Services was limited to its office in Yokohoma, south of Tokyo.

In order to meet the demand of industrial clients from the construction industry in Tokyo and the region and to reach more clients, SGS applied to execute Building Certification and Inspection Services from its recently opened Tokyo office and successfully received the official approval from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT).

The SGS Tokyo office offers a wide range of services for the construction industry including, but not limited to, Design Verification, Quality Assurance and Quality Control, Verification of Conformity to national and international building standards as well as energy efficiency checks.

With the approval to perform Building Certification and Inspection Services in its Tokyo office, in addition to its Yokohama office, SGS has increased its business reach and can offer a value added service for the construction industry in Tokyo and the region. From now on, SGS Japan will be more client-friendly, more efficient and have more potential to expand its services.

The successful approval issued by the MLIT and a high demand for such services on the market, means that SGS plans to open a second office in Tokyo as well as to expand to other cities and areas.
