(I-Newswire) March 5, 2010 - SGIS, a national government contracting firm, has appointed Mark Fedak as Senior Director, Cyber Security Solutions, effective immediately. With more than 30 years of experience in the Information Technology, Information Assurance and Cyber Security field, Fedak is responsible for developing and optimizing the company’s overall Cyber Security practices and solutions. He also oversees business development in the area of Cyber Security. Fedak is based out of the Washington, D.C. metro area office.

A seasoned executive with extensive experience building, optimizing and growing Cyber Security capability, leading research and development efforts in Cyber Security and specializing in risk analysis and risk management, Fedak recently served as the Manager of Information Assurance for a global provider of defense, security and aerospace government services. In this role, he led a team of senior Information Assurance (IA) engineers providing a quick reaction capability for proposals and contract efforts; delivered new discriminating IA capabilities resulting with improved ability to respond to customers; and directed the creation and instruction of the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) Exam preparation course, which reduced training costs by 90%. Throughout his career, Fedak has also served as the Manager and Principal Consultant of Risk Assessment Services for a security product company and Manager of Computer Security for military and data systems operations for a global diversified technology company, among other positions.

Fedak is an active member of the Association for Enterprise Information (AFEI) and has previously served as Chairman of AFEI’s Enterprise Security Management Conferences in 2007 and 2008. He is the Chairman of the upcoming AFEI conference, Security In The Clouds, an event focusing on the security of cloud computing. He has also acted as a representative to the National Science Foundation’s Center for Autonomic Computing, overseeing and directing focused research and development to be applied to the automation of Cyber Security solutions.

Fedak received his Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Information Systems from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and his Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Computer Science from George Mason University. He is also a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), a Certified Information Systems Security Representative (CISSR) and a professional instructor of risk management, network security and CISSP domains.
