Seton Home Study School Launches First Ever International Homeschooling Chess Club

Online Chess Club launched internationally for K-12 enrolled in Seton Home Study School.

Virginia (I-Newswire) February 25, 2013 - Seton Home Study School, a provider of Catholic homeschooling classes and materials world-wide, has launched an internet-based extracurricular that is a quite unique: The Seton Home Chess Club.

Open to all those who are enrolled in the homeschooling program, the Seton Home Chess Club eclipsed 65 members within the first 24 hours of its beginning. With now over 145 games being played simultaneously, the club is poised to be a successful novelty and enjoyable activity for those chess players who are educated at home.

While the Seton Chess Club is very simple at this stage, there are still plenty of options to make the experience enjoyable. Students can create and join their own clubs, upload avatars for their profiles, and propose tournaments. Students are even ranked in a similar way to the official World Chess Federation (FIDE) ranking system.

"The chess club is a fantastic way for homeschooled students to be able to talk to each other and share experiences with each other and thus not miss out on that part of the education experience,” said Matthew Worley, the Associate Director of Admissions at Seton Home Study School. “Just wait until you see what we do next.”
