Seminar on Funding Opportunities for Technology Cooperation with Israel February 20th

Online, February 7, 2014 (Newswire.com) - The New Mexico-Israel Business Exchange, in cooperation with the Binational Industrial Research and Development (BIRD) Foundation, the Israel Economic Mission, Ministry of Economy, and the Albuquerque-Bernalillo County Trade Alliance, is hosting a seminar on February 20, 2014 from 8:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the STC Rotunda (108 University SE, Albuquerque).

Ms. Michal Miasnik, West Coast Representative of the BIRD Foundation, will provide insight on how New Mexico companies may be eligible for up to $1 Million in funding if they are working with a company in Israel or are looking for one. The BIRD Foundation promotes collaboration between Israeli and American companies in various technological fields for the purpose of joint product development. In addition to providing conditional grants, the Foundation assists by working with companies to identify potential strategic partners and facilitate introductions.

Ms. Bracha Shlomo, Director of Trade and Investment, Government of Israel Economic Office, US Southern Region, will discuss the Office's goals and activities to enhance business cooperation between Israel and the U.S.

Mr. Gary Oppedahl, newly appointed City Economic Development Director in Albuquerque and former Intel executive, will speak about his experience working with the BIRD Foundation. Mr. Oppedahl will also tell the story about how Intel grew to be the world leader in semiconductor chip manufacturing and why the decision to work in Israel has been an important component to the company's success.

Attendees will be provided with first hand insight on how New Mexico companies can apply for these tremendous financial resources by the very organization that awards the grants. Additionally, attendees will learn about other goals and activities Israel offers to enhance business cooperation between Israel and the U.S., as well as current local initiatives underway in Albuquerque to support local entrepreneurs.
