Columbia, MD (I-Newswire) December 21, 2011 - One of Transforming Architecture’s franchisee’s, Sebastian Eilert, AIA was named 2011 Sustainable Design Architect of the Year by AIA Miami and was also named one of the “Top 25 Green Architecture Firms,” by the South Florida Business Journal.

Mr. Eilert, a registered architect and interior designer in the state of Florida and a U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) LEED accredited professional, founded his own firm, Sebastian Eilert Architecture (SEA) in 2006. An ardent supporter of environmentally sustainable design and construction, Mr. Eilert has been involved in the local green building community since 2002 as a founding member of the US Green Building Council - South Florida Chapter. In 2009, he created a new course for the University of Miami, School of Architecture called Contemporary Sustainable Design. His previous accolades include the AIA Miami 2005 Historic Preservation Award, 2009 Sustainable Architect of the Year, and 2010 Young Architect of the Year award. Throughout his career, he has designed many environmentally-sustainable residential and commercial properties, including an innovative water preservation project at Pincrest Gardens. In June, Eilert was appointed to The Society of Environmentally Responsible Facilities (SERF) board of advisors.

“Good design will prevail and guide the new generations of buildings with integrated technology, sustainable practices and comprehensive operations - not just good quality, but durable design,” says Sebastian. “This recognition is quite an honor considering the thought leaders in the field.”

“We are incredibly privileged to have Sebastian as part of Transforming Architecture,” says founder Karen Pitsley, AIA. “He brings knowledge and expertise that all of us can learn from. This award is well deserved.”
