Two Seattle startups coming together with the same mission, sharing to help others

Seattle, WA (I-Newswire) February 10, 2011 - Seattle 2.0 (www.seattle20.com), the premier resource for entrepreneurs and startups in Seattle, has named visionary non-profit organization SeeYourImpact.org (www.SeeYourImpact.org) a pro-bono sponsor. This sponsorship will bring together charitable giving and technology to an audience that significantly values both.

“Our mission is to help entrepreneurs turn great ideas into great companies,” says Marcelo Calbucci, founder of Seattle 2.0. “We’re thrilled to support a non-profit that is using technology to make charitable giving easy, affordable, and transparent. SeeYourImpact.org embodies the innovative principles of the Seattle 2.0 community in order to help those in need in this city and all over the world.”

Seattle 2.0 provides resources and tools to entrepreneurs and startups. The pro-bono partnership with SeeYourImpact.org will help the technology non-profit engage a community that has become a worldwide startup destination.

“As a region, we made enough strides to be the number one option for fast growing startups to expand outside their headquarters and find great talent. Facebook, Hulu, Zynga and others chose Seattle as their second home. Not Boston, not New York, not Bangalore or Hyderabad, not Beijing or Shanghai,” says Calbucci.

That’s good news for local charities, especially SeeYourImpact.org. Entrepreneurs can relate to this organization because it is a tech startup itself. Started in September 2010, SeeYourImpact.org has brought together giving and new technology in a way that makes sense to entrepreneurs. Donors make a contribution online to any cause area, anywhere in the world, and in just two weeks, they receive an email showing them who and how they helped. Donors share their stories with their social networking community, encouraging charity to go viral.

“Entrepreneurs are incredibly charitable,” says Scott Oki, co-founder of SeeYourImpact.org. “In fact, studies indicate that entrepreneurs give more of their profits and their time than established companies. We’ve found that to be absolutely true of the Seattle 2.0 community.”

SeeYourImpact.org offers people close to 100 ways to give small, life-changing gifts like $10 mosquito nets or $30 clean water filters and then shows them the actual person they helped through a photo and story. The non-profit ensures that 100% of each person’s gift goes to the project they choose to support. Support from Seattle 2.0 provides the charity with exposure to volunteers and supporters, helping the organization fulfill its mission of engaging people in a fulfilling giving experience.
