Sea Trail Golf Resort & Convention Center Hosted the 2007 Intercollegiate Colf Tournament September 21-23, 2007

(I-Newswire) October 24, 2007 - October 2, 2007, Sunset Beach, N.C. – Sea Trail Golf Resort & Convention Center hosted the 2007 Collegiate Golf Tournament on September 21st through September 23rd, 2007. This was the seventh year that Sea Trail hosted the event. Elon University in Elon, N.C. was the overall winner.

Teams participated in the three-day, 54-hole event, which was played on The Jones Course and The Byrd Course. The field for the Collegiate Tournament was comprised of 22 men's teams and 16 women's teams from 23 colleges.

"We were delighted to host the collegiate tournament again," said Tom Plankers, President of Sea Trail Golf. "Our courses were in great condition for the competition."

The 23 colleges included six from North Carolina, five from Virginia, two from South Carolina, two from Maryland, two from Florida and one team each from Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Delaware, Pennsylvania and Ohio. This year's host college was Elon University in Elon, N.C. Other participating colleges included High Point University in High Point, N.C.; Gardener-Webb University in Boiling Springs, N.C.; University of South Carolina Upstate in Spartanburg, S.C.; James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Va.; Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio; and Stetson University in DeLand, Fla.
