Scottish lawyer Angus Logan welcomes TUC report on compensation culture

(I-Newswire) May 22, 2005 - A LEADING Scottish lawyer Angus Logan has welcomed a TUC report published on Friday (May 20), which shatters the commonly held myth of a compensation culture in the UK.

Findings of the TUC report included the fact that less than one in ten people made ill or injured by their work ever receive any compensation from the state or from their employers.

"The proposed legislation on corporate manslaughter in England is welcome if rather late.

would be much better than a cure. Most of these industrial accidents

"It is often very sad to tell the victim of an industrial injury that he or she is legally too late to claim compensation because they did not know that they could claim for their serious injury.

"The Government should give the Health & Safety Executive greater funding, resources and "teeth" with which better to regulate and prevent injuries at work."
