Ignite Dallas is a not-for-profit event organized by local unpaid volunteers, Organizers are Chris Walters, Mike D. Merrill, Joey Pomerenke, Danica L. Mathes, and Chris Bond who wanted to “light a fire under the Dallas creative community” by creating conversations and collaborations across cultures and disciplines with bite-sized presentations. Presenters are given 5 minutes to share their personal and professional passions using 20 slides, each displayed for 15 seconds. Based on the sell-out crowd at the first Ignite Dallas, and the requests for another event, organizers scheduled this second Ignite date.

Ignite was started by Brady Forrest, Technology Evangelist for O’Reilly Media and Bre Pettis of Makerbot.com, formerly of MAKE Magazine. The first Ignite took place in 2006 and has since ignited internationally with gatherings in over 100 cities worldwide in addition to Dallas including Helsinki, Paris, France, New York, and many more.
