There is a high dependence on experiential learning at SCMS-Cochin and a lot of this is achieved through events and activities that are organised throughout the year.

On the 19th of October 2012, Finesse, the Finance Forum of SCMS-Cochin, organised FINBUZZ 2012, focused on the theme of 'India in the Making - Role of the Financial Sector'. Mr. P. C. Cyriac, Chairman, Cochin Stock Exchange, gave the inaugural address and brought in a macro perspective, emphasizing the need for the Government to take the right decisions at the right time. There were many technical sessions and several speakers from the Finance and Banking sectors.

SCMS-Cochin organised its annual Out-Bound camp on 14th December, 2012. Under the direction of Commander R. Madhusoodanan, Chief Trainer with Kalypso Training, the SCMS-Cochin students were put through their paces in activities that were aimed at imparting physical training, leadership skills and teamwork.

In another industry institute interaction hosted by SCMS, Mr. P. Saidev, MD - Steel Complex Limited (SCL), spoke to the students. He had his audience enthralled with the story of how a successful company was launched, and went on to become the only mini steel plant of Kerala. SCL was originally promoted in the joint sector between the Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation Ltd. (KSIDC) and SAIL in 1969 in Kozhikode. 5th of December witnessed Mr. Suresh Balakrishna, CEO of Brand Programming Network addressing students on "Creativity in Advertising".

On 29th December, the 9th International Conference on e-Governance (ICEG-2012) was held at SCMS-Cochin. Subject experts from various parts of the globe, such as Dr. Waltraut Ritter (Research Director, Knowledge Enterprises, Hong Kong), Ms. Chandana Unnithan (Deakin University, Australia) and Dr. M. P. Gupta (Professor & Chair-Information Systems & E-governance, IIT Delhi) shared their thoughts at ICEG-2012.

SCMS also has the Management Students' Syndicate, which is an entity formed to facilitate effective interaction with the corporate world. Its functions include organising seminars involving industry experts and arranging visits to organisations to understand their functioning. Under its aegis, students also undertake specific assignments on behalf of industry, with support from their faculty.

The Marketing Grid at SCMS works towards enhancing the marketing skills of the students through interactions with practicing managers. The Finance Forum also regularly organises seminars and lecture meetings with experts from industry. Some of the issues discussed in the recent past have been the National Budget, Credit Policy, Stock Exchange Simulations and Corporate Health. Tarang is the annual student cultural festival at SCMS-Cochin. It is an occasion for those with artistic talent to exhibit it. Panorama is a national level management meet held every year, a hi-tech management event in which business leaders, entrepreneurs and top level executives from various sectors participate. Chips 'n' Nuts is a forum for discussing the latest trends in information Technology and Systems Administration. Parivarthana, the social outreach programme of the SCMS Group , gives students an opportunity to get sensitised to socially relevant issues and builds CSR concepts.

With such a plethora of activities and interaction, SCMS-Cochin offers the complete and industry aligned education that is the need of the times. Theory is amply supported by experience so that the students are employment ready when they pass out.
